Third time’s a charm for The CCD!

DUBLIN - 14 November 2022 – After 12 years in operation, this is The CCD’s third time to win the title of World’s Leading Meetings & Conference Centre 2022 having previously been awarded the title in 2019 and 2017. The announcement was made by the World Travel Awards on Friday 11th of November. The venue beat off stiff competition from 16 finalists from across the world, including Dubai World Trade Centre, Dubai, UAE, ExCeL London, England, International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney), Australia, Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, Australia and Las Vegas Convention Center, USA.

Ireland, as a destination, stood out on the night with the Guinness Storehouse winning the award for World’s Leading Beer Tour Visitor Attraction 2022 and Jameson Distillery Bow St. being named World’s Leading Distillery Tour 2022.

Picking up the award on the night, Suzanne McGann, Director of Marketing and Communications at The CCD, said “Being named as World’s Leading Meetings & Conference Centre 2022 is a real honour for us all at The CCD, as it’s voted for by members of the tourism industry, our clients and delegates. I’d especially like to thank everyone who voted for us this year. There was a lot of competition from many great venues around the world and we are delighted to bring this award home.”

Also commenting on the win, Stephen Meehan, Chief Executive of The CCD, said, “After a tough two years for the business travel industry, Ireland is back competing on the world stage as a top business tourism destination. But we don’t do this alone. Ireland’s success is down to a collaboration of our tourism industry who come together to attract, win and deliver great events.”

He added, “These award wins are a testament to Clann CCD, Team Ireland and all those working in the tourism industry, whose talent and passion demonstrates their commitment to delivering exceptional events showcasing Ireland as a country of one hundred thousand welcomes.”

The World Travel Awards are voted for by travel and tourism professionals worldwide and recognises the commitment to excellence that The CCD has demonstrated in the last twelve months. This latest award for World’s Leading Meetings & Conference Centre brings the total number of awards the venue has achieved since opening to 60.
