Introducing Virtual Reality to The CCD

Visualise how your event could look like at The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) and now you can virtually walk through it from anywhere in the world! Introducing Virtual Reality to The CCD.

DUBLIN – 18 April 2019 – The CCD understands how important it is for event organisers to bring a venue to life. The CCD Technical team work with event organisers in a number of ways to help them create their desired experience. CCD Technical has the capability to create 3D renderings of The CCD Auditorium, Liffey and Forum spaces with different lighting and furniture layouts. This allows event organisers to see what their event will look like and make any changes needed at planning stage.

The Technical team at The CCD have been creating renderings of room set ups for many years, using a powerful tool called WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get). They have expanded on this offering by adding Virtual Reality (VR) to the mix. Now, not only can you see what the space is like, but you can also virtually walk through it. VR gives a real sense of spatial awareness and a sense of depth, so event organisers can feel how large the space is, when set up in different configurations.

VR gives you the option to virtually walk through The CCD Forum and Liffey rooms as three different set ups; a conference, exhibition or gala dinner. Often clients can’t visualise different set ups when on a site tour of The CCD, as the room may be set up for another event. The introduction of VR enables you to easily visualise what these rooms can transform into, maximising the aesthetic potential of your event and furthermore reducing the need for onsite visits to The CCD. This would benefit clients that are located abroad who may have to travel to Ireland to view rooms at The CCD in advance of their event.

Now not only can event organisers see their room set up but can now experience a virtual tour from anywhere in the world! Try out the VR experience at IMEX Frankfurt 21 to 23 May this year.
