ECSS Congress 2018 expects to break previous attendance records

Content ImageDUBLIN – 10 May 2018 - The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) is set to welcome one of the world’s largest multi- and interdisciplinary sport science congresses to Ireland for the first time.

The 23rd annual congress of the European College of Sport Science (ECSS) will take place at The CCD from 4 – 7 July 2018 and will showcase the best in the field of sport science.

Attended by international sport scientists and academics, the congress will feature a range of invited lecturers, multi- and mono-disciplinary symposia as well as tutorial lecturers and Socratic debates. The 2018 congress has not only received a record number of submissions for the invited scientific programme, but also an unprecedented number of abstracts in the open submission. Given this, the ECSS expects to top the Barcelona attendance record of 3,114 participants from over 70 countries at this year’s event.

ECSS Executive Director, Thomas Delaveaux commented “When I was first introduced to The CCD, it was still under construction and, even then, I was excited about one day hosting a congress in Dublin. In July this year, that dream will become a reality, at what promises to be an outstanding event.” Speaking about the event, he added, “I cannot wait to see the doors open on the morning of July 4 when 3,000 international delegates will attend the 23rd annual congress of the European College of Sport Science – ECSS Dublin 2018.”

Adrienne Clarke, Head of Conference Sales at The CCD added, “We are delighted to not only host this congress, but also to welcome it to Ireland for the very first time. The four-day congress, which will use all of our facilities and services, gives us the opportunity to showcase all that our venue has to offer as a conference location to a widespread international audience. We look forward to welcoming ECSS in July”.
