The Convention Centre Dublin to welcome 10,000 international delegates as part of the Dublin Tech Summit

DUBLIN – 14 April 2016 – The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) is set to host the first ever Dublin Tech Summit on 15 and 16 February 2017 which is expected to attract 10,000 delegates to the city over the course of the two-day event.

The summit will showcase everything Dublin has to offer as a global technology hub and will focus on the themes changing the face of technology including Big Data, Fintech, Business & Marketing, and the Internet of Things.

Ben English, Co-founder and CEO of the Dublin Tech Summit commented, "The Dublin Tech Summit is about bringing the leaders of technology from start-ups, scale ups and corporates together to create an intimate global technology conference that is focused on maximising what Dublin has to offer as a global destination". He added that in hosting the event across Dublin's Silicon Docks, it was a positive message for Dublin. Ireland is the European headquarters for many global players in the technology sector and the Dublin Tech Summit will bring together leaders, founders and influencers across seven key growth areas.

  • ‘Big Data’ focuses on how data is changing the way we do business and analytics are altering our behaviour and decision making.
  • ‘Fintech’ is the technology that makes financial services more efficient.
  • ‘Business & Marketing’ brings together the habits, ideas and innovations in emerging enterprises and global corporations.
  • ‘Internet of Things’ concentrates on how everyday objects in our lives have wireless connectivity, allowing them to send and receive data.
  • ‘Social Enterprise’ deals with how technology can improve the lives of others.
  • ‘Creative’ centres on the importance of innovation and creativity in the future of economic development.
  • ‘Medtech’ relates to technology and diagnostic equipment in healthcare.

Dublin Tech Summit

The CCD previously hosted high profile tech conferences including NetApp Insight which welcomed 2,100 delegates for its annual technical conference on storage and data management, ICANN 54 which saw 2,200 visitors come together to discuss Internet-related topics such as the domain name system, and the Dscoop Open which attracted 1,200 delegates for its HP graphic arts conference for digital printers.

The venue has also confirmed a number of tech conferences for the coming years including DrupalCon which is expected to welcome over 2,000 delegates to discuss its open source content management platform which powers websites and applications worldwide, SMACC Conference (Social Media and Critical Care) which is estimated to attract around 2,000 delegates for its academic meeting combined with online social media to deliver innovation with education, and the International Conference on Information Systems where around 1,300 academics and practitioners in the IS discipline will come together for networking and sharing of their latest ideas.
