The Convention Centre Dublin Confirms Nine International Association Conferences
DUBLIN – 14 May 2015 – The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) recently contracted nine international association conferences, ranging in size from 600 to 2,200 delegates, and estimated to generate revenue in excess of €13 million for the local economy. The successful bids were secured in association with Dublin Convention Bureau (DCB), a unit of Fáilte Ireland, the National Tourism Development Authority.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA), in partnership with Airports Council International (ACI), will host its 24th AVSEC World Conference in October 2015, over three days, focusing on aviation security and attracting over 600 security experts from all areas of the aviation industry. The British Elbow and Shoulder Society (BESS) will bring its three day Annual Scientific Meeting to The CCD in June 2016, with more than 600 elbow and shoulder healthcare professionals gathering for the largest annual meeting in their profession.
After a successful conference in 2014, Localization World will return to host its 2016 LocWorld Conference over three days in June. The event is expected to attract around 600 delegates specialising in international business, translation, localization and global website management. The 20th International Conference on Miniaturized Systems for Chemistry and Life Sciences (MicroTAS 2016) will take place over five days in October 2016 and is expected to attract 1,200 delegates to the annual event on biochemical microsystems. The Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association will host its Annual International Symposium on ALS/MND over three days in December 2016. The conference is the largest medical and scientific conference on ALS/MND. “We are delighted that the International Symposium will be returning to Dublin. It is the premier event in the MND research calendar, attracting over 900 delegates, representing the energy and dynamism of the global MND research community,” said Pam Aston, Conference and Events Manager, MND Association.
The European Society of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology (ESGAR) will host its 2018 Annual Meeting over four days, welcoming delegates who have a special interest in the imaging and treatment of patients with diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and associated abdominal organs. Prof. Helen Fenlon, Meeting President 2018, commented, "The Irish Radiology community is delighted to welcome ESGAR back to Ireland in June 2018 for its 29th Annual Meeting. Attracting close to 2,000 delegates from all around the world, this meeting continues to grow in depth and quality year on year. The International Association of Plant Biotechnology (IAPB) will bring its next meeting to Dublin in August 2018 in association with Conference Partners, official PCO for IAPB 2018. IAPB 2018, which is expected to welcome up to 1,000 delegates, is a global initiative, supported by scientists around the world, including those in the Higher Education Institutes in Ireland and in Teagasc. According to the President of the organisation, Dr. Barbara Doyle Prestwich, “this is a very exciting opportunity for Ireland whose agri-food and marine sector is a major part of the economy, with an annual output of close to €26 billion”.
Also in 2018, the Association of Anaesthetists of GB & Ireland (AAGBI) Annual Congress will take place in September, welcoming up to 1,000 trainee and consultant anaesthetists for the three day meeting. The AAGBI Annual Congress is one of the leading anaesthetic meetings in the UK and Ireland and will feature informative sessions, high profile speakers and a trade exhibition with over 40 leading anaesthetics companies.
Last week The CCD also announced that it is set to host ICANN 54, welcoming 2,200 global Internet delegates to Dublin for its 54th public meeting in October this year.
