World Travel Award returns to Dublin.

The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) has been voted Europe’s Leading Meetings & Conference Centre 2024 at the 31st annual World Travel Awards.

This award, Europe’s Leading Meetings & Conference Centre, demonstrates the city and venue’s attractiveness as a business conference destination. Once again, the Irish flag was flying high with other winners including Ireland’s Leading Whiskey Distillery Tour, Teeling Whiskey Distillery; Europe’s Leading Luxury Wedding Resort, Luttrellstown Castle Resort and Guinness Storehouse taking home the award Europe’s Best MICE Event Venue.

The announcement was made by the World Travel Awards at an event held in Berlin, Germany on Wednesday 06 of March. Picking up the award on the night, Stephen Meehan, Chief Executive at The CCD, said “I’m very pleased to accept this award tonight on behalf of all of my colleagues in The CCD. This award, in particular, is always special as it’s voted for by our industry professionals and consumers. Together with the team back in Dublin, I would like to thank everyone who voted for us.”

Asked about the industry landscape in Ireland, Mr. Meehan commented, “Ireland remains a top business tourism destination and at The CCD, we are working on events right out to 2030. We know that success happens because of the collaboration of the entire industry, as well as the continued attractiveness of Dublin and Ireland as a great place to do business.”

The CCD has played host to over 2,200 events since opening in 2010 and has welcomed in excess of 1.1 million national and international delegates. Looking forward, events for 2024 include Women in Project Management Summit in March, the 16th European Glaucoma Society Congress in June and the Internet Engineering Task Force 121 in November.

The venue beat off stiff competition from venues across Europe, including Austria Center Vienna, Fira Barcelona, Spain, Scandinavia XPO, Sweden and Grimaldi Forum, Monaco. The CCD now goes on to compete in the World Travel Awards for ‘World’s Leading Meetings & Conference Centre 2024’ later in the year.

The World Travel Awards are voted for by travel and tourism professionals and business and leisure travel consumers worldwide and this accolade recognises the commitment to excellence that The CCD has demonstrated in the last twelve months.

This latest award for Europe’s Leading Meetings & Conference Centre brings the total number of awards the venue has achieved since opening to 64.
