The CCD to host the World Youth and Student Travel Conference 2014

DUBLIN – 1 October 2013 – The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) has won ‘Best Overseas Conference Venue’ in the Places of Excellence category at the UK Conference and Incentive Travel (C&IT) Awards 2013.The award ceremony and gala banquet took place at The Grand Connaught Rooms, London on Friday night.

Judged by an esteemed panel of industry experts, The C&IT Travel Excellence Awards recognise and celebrate companies applying best practice to the creation, planning, production and management of innovative successful events within B2B sectors.

Competition was very high for the awards, which this year saw the number of entries double from last year’s event, and the ‘Best Overseas Conference Venue’ award was a new addition to the 2013 line-up.

Nick Waight, CEO of The CCD comments “We are thrilled to win the first ever C&IT award for Best Overseas Conference Venue, and we are delighted to be recognised by our peers in the industry”.

It was a double-win for Dublin, as the Dublin Convention Bureau (DCB) also took home the award for Best Overseas Destination. In addition, Cascade Productions narrowly missed out on ‘Best International Conference, but took home a Grocery, Drinks and Households Sector of Excellence Award for their ‘Light Up the High Street, Iceland Foods Managers’ Conference, which took place at The CCD in October 2012.

Just three years since opening in September 2010, The CCD has now won 25 industry awards and hosted over 760 events with over 700,000 total delegate days.
