The Convention Centre Dublin Scores a Hat-Trick at M&IT Awards

DUBLIN – 26 February 2014 – The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) won the Gold Award for ‘Best Overseas Conference Centre’ at the Meetings & Incentive Travel (M&IT) Awards 2014, at a gala banquet attended by over 1,000 UK and international industry professionals at Battersea Evolution, London, last night.

The CCD has now won this prestigious award for three consecutive years, with gold awards in 2014, 2013 and 2012, following on from a silver award in 2011, just months after the centre opened. At this year’s awards, The CCD was shortlisted against five major international convention centres – Grimaldi Forum Monaco, Amsterdam RAI, Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre, Bella Centre Copenhagen, and Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre.

“We are absolutely overwhelmed to achieve this accolade three years running”, said Nick Waight, CEO of The CCD. “This award means a lot to the team in Dublin, whose commitment to exceptional service continues to deliver events that surpass our clients’ expectations time and time again. We’d like to sincerely thank everyone who voted for us and to assure you of how much we appreciate your continued support.”

Since opening in September 2010, The CCD has hosted 890 events, with over 850,000 delegate days. The venue has now won 26 Industry Awards, including recognition by the International Association of Convention Centres (AIPC) as one of the top four convention centres in the world, as one of three runners-up for ‘World’s Best Convention Centre’ at the AIPC Apex Awards 2012.

Past events include the 16th International Congress of Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders 2012 (5,000 delegates), the World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences 2013 (3,300 delegates), eHealth Week 2013 (2,500 delegates), the European Society for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Congress (2,000 delegates), and the Annual European Congress of the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (3,500 delegates).
