Five conferences confirmed worth €16 million to the Irish Economy
DUBLIN – 25 November 2015 – The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) has announced it has been chosen to host the Renaissance Society of America (RSA) Annual Meeting in 2021. Organisers successfully bid against Madrid to bring the three-day conference to Dublin, which is expected to attract up to 3,500 delegates.
Joseph Connors, President of the RSA commented, “The Renaissance Society of America has made an inspired choice for our European conference to be held in Dublin in 2021. The subject of Dublin and the Irish abroad during the Renaissance is very much a burgeoning and exciting focus of early-modern scholarship now. Many of the 3,000-3,500 delegates who will be coming have never been to Ireland before, and will take advantage of the conference to visit sites in Dublin and beyond. The famed warmth and hospitality of the Irish people contributed much to the decision to locate the conference there, as have the well-organised conference facilities at The CCD and the generous support of Fáilte Ireland”.
The CCD also recently secured four additional conferences for Dublin: FENS 2019; ECSS 2018; HUPO 2017; and the Hadoop Summit 2016. The five conferences combined will attract over 12,500 delegates to Dublin and are worth an estimated €16 million to the Irish economy.
Nick Waight, CEO of The CCD commented, “This is another massive boost for The CCD and Dublin. We continue to work hard to secure international conferences for Ireland and a confirmation as far out as 2021 is a testament to our success. Once again, we would like to acknowledge our industry partners, Fáilte Ireland's Dublin Convention Bureau, who played a huge role in winning these events for Dublin”.
The Federation of European Nutrition Societies (FENS) 13th European Nutrition Conference will take place over four days in October 2019 in association with Keynote PCO. Mark Hollingsworth, CEO of The Nutrition Society commented, “The Nutrition Society is delighted to have been awarded this prestigious conference and we look forward to hosting it in the city of Dublin, where we anticipate 3,000 delegates from across the globe will participate in an excellent programme on Nutritional Science, and enjoy the renowned Irish hospitality”.
The European College of Sports Science (ECSS) will bring its 23rd Annual Congress to The CCD and Dublin for four days in July 2018. Professor Tim Cable, President of ECSS commented, “ECSS is the world-leading organisation for the dissemination of high quality science related to sports and exercise, and we look forward to welcoming 3,000 delegates to Ireland, given its proud history of sporting excellence”.
The British Society for Proteome Research (BSPR) and the European Proteomics Association (EuPA) will welcome over 1,500 delegates to Dublin for the 16th Annual World Congress of the Human Proteome Organisation (HUPO) in September 2017. “We are delighted to be bringing HUPO to Dublin, and with our PCO, Conference Partners, we look forward to hosting a vibrant four-day congress that will showcase the latest developments in proteomics. With its state-of-the-art facilities and great location close to the city centre, we feel privileged and look forward to welcoming our international colleagues to The CCD and Dublin”, said Professor Steve Pennington, Vice-President of the BSPR.
The Hadoop Summit will take place over two days in April 2016 and will welcome over 1,500 delegates to Dublin. The Summit is the leading conference for the Apache Hadoop community and will showcase successful Hadoop use cases, share development tips and educate organisations about how best to use Apache Hadoop as a key component in enterprise data architecture.
