The CCD to welcome 3,000 International Delegates to Major World Pharmaceutical Congress
DUBLIN – 23 August 2013 – The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD)is to host a major international pharmaceutical congress in September. The International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences 2013, organised by the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI), will see 3,000 international delegates come to Dublin as part of the year of The Gathering.
Previously held in Ireland in 1975, the 2013 event has been booked with The CCD since 2009, prior to the building officially opening in 2010. Fáilte Ireland have hailed it as amongst the top five largest business events of the year, estimating that it will generate over €4 million in revenue for the Irish economy.
The PSI has been working closely with FIP, local pharmacy representative bodes, schools of pharmacy, the pharmaceutical industry, and the Government to make the 2013 congress a huge success. President of the PSI, Eoghan Hanly comments “The PSI is truly delighted to be jointly hosting this prestigious event. Supported by the pharmacy profession and sector, the event presents a huge opportunity for Ireland and will be a real boom to the national economy this year”.
Running from 31 August to 5 September, this week-long annual event attracts pharmacists, pharmaceutical scientists and academics from around the world to discuss a wide range of global healthcare and pharmacy topics, as well as current trends and issues facing the professions of pharmacy practice and pharmaceutical sciences. The congress will feature sessions, symposia, workshops, discussions and an exhibition.
In addition, the event will showcase a number of innovative Irish and international start-ups that provide cutting-edge products and technologies designed to enhance pharmacy and patient outcomes world-wide.
