The CCD to host the International Society of Computational Biology Conference (ISMB/ECCB) 2015

DUBLIN – 10 May 2013 – The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD)is to host the International Society of Computational Biology (ISCB)’s ISMB/ECCB Conference for 2015. Secured by Dublin Convention Bureau, the event will bring in over 1,800 delegates to Ireland’s capital city.

The society, which has over 3,000 members from more than 70 countries, addresses scientific policies and serves as a portal to information about training, education, employment and news from computational biology related fields. The 2015 ISMB/ECCB Conference will serve as the society’s 23rd Annual International Conference on Intelligent Systems for Computational Biology, and the 14th European Conference on Computational Biology.

Fáilte Ireland has praised the win, which is set to bring in almost €3m in revenue to Ireland’s capital city. Sam Johnson from Dublin Convention Bureau comments “this is a great revenue boost for Dublin and shows that our pitch to sell Ireland as a business tourism destination is working well”.

Dublin Convention Bureau is the official organisation for business tourism in Dublin. It offers free and impartial advice, marketing assistance and expert local knowledge to help those looking to organise a conference, meeting or event in Dublin. The organisation has celebrated a number of high-profile conference wins and industry awards recently, including the annual MICE Report award for the Best City Convention Bureau in Europe 2013. In addition, they received third place for The Best Tourism Marketing Video of 2013 at the Golden City Gate Media Awards. Promotional tourism videos from around the world were entered into the competition and the ‘Meet in Dublin’ video was announced as a winner at the ITB Travel Trade Show, Berlin in March.
