Our Steps to a Sustainable Future.

At The CCD, sustainability shapes everything we do. Driven by our commitment to tackling climate change, we aim to set the standard for green events and strive for a sustainable future that positively impacts the environment, economy and society alike. These efforts are central to our decarbonisation strategy.

At The CCD, we have dedicated our time and efforts into developing an extensive sustainability strategy, focusing on:

  • Decarbonisation
  • Community
  • Sustainable Hospitality
  • Client Sustainability Journey

Here are just some of the steps we are taking to become a sustainable venue of choice, focusing on waste management, collaboration with clients and sustainable hospitality.

Innovation in Waste Management

At The CCD, we prioritise reducing our carbon footprint by continually innovating waste management practices. Our comprehensive waste policy ensures high levels of recycling, with a consistent rate above 97%. In 2024, we achieved zero to waste landfill, which achieved a 100% recycling rate. We employ custom-built modular recycling stations to engage delegates in our mission to reduce, reuse, and recycle. In 2024, we installed AI-powered food waste bins on site, to analyse and reduce food waste. As one of the first movers in this space, these smart systems help us identify inefficiencies in food purchasing and waste management, ultimately reducing both costs and environmental impact.

New Ways of Working and Client Collaboration and Sustainability

We engage with clients throughout their journey at The CCD, offering a dedicated sustainability programme to make events as eco-friendly as possible. Our initiatives include locally sourced, seasonal hospitality and post-event reports on carbon emissions, energy use, recycling and food waste. We prioritise sustainable procurement, working with environmentally responsible suppliers and local organisations to minimise transportation emissions.

Sustainable Food and Beverage

The CCD’s sustainable food and beverage offering is a key differentiator for our business. Using our bespoke client sustainable journey methodology and a menu pack that was created to give the client clear visibility on the carbon footprint of their choices, clients are empowered to make informed, environmentally conscious decisions. Since 2024, we haven’t used nuts in our food offerings to enhance inclusivity. We back up this approach by having banned air freight on fruit and vegetables and using locally sourced fresh produce with our ‘Farm to Fork’ policy. In addition, we have eliminated plastic consumables and use fair trade products and carbon labelling menus.

This sustainable approach to hospitality runs throughout the business. We introduced ‘meat free Wednesdays’ into the staff canteen where our chefs serve amazing plant-based menus every week!

We are dedicated to reducing waste from our hospitality offering. Any surplus food from events is donated to the Dublin Christian Mission, a local charity supporting homelessness.

Our comprehensive approach, from waste management to energy efficiency, sustainable food sourcing and employee and client collaboration, demonstrates our dedication to sustainability. With a clear vision for a net-zero future and a commitment to industry leadership, The CCD is proud to be a sustainable business of choice.
