Various government incentives including the removal of travel tax, a reduction in vat rate, and the introduction of a Conference Ambassador Programme, are also available to help you bring an international event to Dublin, together with a range of other supporting organisations.
Dublin Convention Bureau (DCB) provides financial and practical aid for international conferences and associations bidding to choose Dublin as a host destination.
DCB can assist with the initial bid document and provide support towards the travel and accommodation costs associated with the bid. It will also financially support and co-ordinate site visits for your decision makers, and give you impartial advice and information on venues, accommodation and entertainment options.
DCB also provides a financial contribution towards the marketing and promotion of your conference in order to maximise delegate attendance and ensure its success, and offers complimentary maps and tourist information guides for your delegates.
DCB can also guide you through Fáilte Ireland’s Conference Ambassador Programme, which identifies and supports Irish representatives from professional associations and encourages them to invite their conferences to Ireland.
Science Foundation Ireland’s (SFI) Conference and Workshop Programme facilitates international and national conferences and workshops taking place in Ireland that encourage dissemination and collaboration on research topics of timely importance covered by its legal remit.
There are four different award types which can be applied for: Conferences; Exceptional Conferences; Workshops; and Conference Bids. Different award types are eligible for different maximum funding amounts. You must apply for this funding at least three months before a workshop or the final bid presentation for a conference, at least six months before your conference and not more than 12 months before your event, unless it is an Exceptional Conference.
