The Convention Centre Dublin Secures 120 Events in 6 Months

DUBLIN – 11 December 2014 – The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) has secured 120 events in the last six months alone, including 25 international conferences, booked for future years, from 2015 to 2018. These 25 conferences range in size from 500 to 2,000 delegates and are forecast to generate over €30 million for the local economy.

International Conferences include the first ever Dublin International Game Music Festival in April 2015, which will celebrate video game music with around 2,000 enthusiasts. The three-day event will feature concerts, guest speakers, inspiring talks and roundtables.

The Digital Solutions Cooperative (Dscoop) will bring its largest event for HP Graphic Arts users in EMEA to The CCD in June 2015, providing an opportunity for the 1,000 delegates to connect with peers, industry leaders, HP executives and experts in the field of digital print.

The world’s largest market research event, the 68th ESOMAR Congress, is expected to attract 1,000 market research experts from over 70 countries to Dublin in September 2015. “We're delighted to hold the 68th ESOMAR Congress in Dublin next year. Home to some of the biggest international companies in the world, Ireland plays a significant role in creating business links between Europe, the US and the rest of the world. As an association working to promote and celebrate the market research sector across the globe, the strong local market research industry and Dublin's role as an international cultural and business hub makes it the perfect location”, said Finn Raben, Director General, ESOMAR.

The Linux Foundation will host three conferences over three days in October 2015. LinuxCon Europe, CloudOpen Europe and Embedded Linux Conference Europe plan to bring together 1,000 developers, system administrators and DevOps professionals.

The 37th International Symposium on Combustion will take place over six days in July 2018 and is expected to attract over 1,600 experts to Dublin, who specialise in all aspects of clean and efficient energy, fire safety, power generation and propulsion technologies.

“We have had an unprecedented run of confirmations over the last six months and continue to see huge interest in what The CCD has to offer as a European conference venue”, said Nick Waight, CEO of The CCD. “Since opening in 2010, we have built a solid reputation for exceptional events, delivered in an iconic, flexible venue, in the highly attractive and accessible city of Dublin. We are particularly delighted that this success is being actively endorsed by our clients, with 36% of these recent events wins comprising repeat clients, returning to host annual events at The CCD.”

Repeat clients include Hostelworld, which returns in January 2015 after holding its largest conference to date at The CCD in 2014, with close to 500 delegates from 34 countries. “This is the third year we have returned to The CCD for our Conference. For us, there is nowhere else in Dublin to match the professionalism and most importantly, the ‘can do’ attitude of The CCD”, said Caren Carruthers, Key Account Manager at Web Reservations International.

The Pendulum Summit will also return in January 2015, with the one-day event expected to be the largest yet, with capacity for 2,000 guests. It will feature some of the world's leading experts from the corporate, leadership, personal development and mindfulness sphere such as Deepak Chopra, founder of the Chopra Foundation.

After a successful two-day conference in 2014, PhoCusWright Europe will host its 2015 conference in May featuring travel innovators, executive keynotes, discussions and debates. Catherine Plummer, Senior Director, Events at PhoCusWright Inc commented, “The event staff at The CCD far surpassed our expectations and have clearly raised the bar to another level. My wish for the global events industry is to have a venue equal to The CCD in every major city in the world. It quite simply is the best venue and staff we’ve ever worked with”.

Other events The CCD has previously confirmed up until 2018 include, the International Society of Computational Biology Annual Conference 2015, the 17th European Congress of Endocrinology 2015, the Congress of the World Association for Buiatrics 2016, the 32nd International Conference on Pharmacoepidemiology 2016, the International Conference on Information Systems 2016, Eurospine 2017, the 56th Annual ACI World Congress 2017, the International Congress of Occupational Health 2018 and the World Congress of Biomechanics 2018.
