eHealth Week to take place at The Convention Centre Dublin in May 2013

Dublin – 8 October, 2012 – The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) announced today that it will host the annual eHealth Week conference on 13th-15th May 2013. Organised by the Healthcare Information Management and Systems Society (HIMSS), this three-day event coincides with the Irish Presidency of the EU and will welcome 2,500 delegates, primarily from Europe’s 27 member states, as well as further afield, including the US, Middle East and Asia.

The purpose of eHealth Week is to develop a roadmap for healthcare technology in Europe. The conference will explore new ways to maximise the use of technology within medicine to meet the challenges of ageing populations combined with the difficult financial predicaments that most European countries now face.

Christina Roosen, Executive Director at HIMSS Europe said: “eHealth Week focuses on educating healthcare professionals about better healthcare through technology. We are delighted to bring this event to The CCD, which is not only a beautiful venue in a great location, but importantly it provides us with excellent technology solutions such a digital streaming, meaning that we can reach a wider audience”.

Marie Lawlor, Head of Conference Sales at The CCD, commented: “We are delighted that eHealth week 2013 is taking place at The CCD. We feel the venue is the ideal location to bring together Healthcare and IT, and we look forward to welcoming such an important event during Ireland’s tenure of the EU Presidency.”

HIMSS is a non-profit organisation and is looking to attract delegates from across the healthcare spectrum to benefit from the opportunities that new technologies will provide. Special reduced delegate rates will apply to those working in professional healthcare roles within the public sector.
