DUBLIN – 3 September 2014 –
The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) has been chosen as the venue to host the 37th International Symposium on Combustion in 2018.

The Dublin bid was secured by researchers from the National University of Ireland, Galway, the University of Limerick, the University of Ulster, Keynote PCO and The CCD, successfully defeating competing bids from both London and Ankara.

The six day meeting is expected to attract 1,600 experts to Dublin, who specialise in all aspects of clean and efficient energy, fire safety, power generation and propulsion technologies. Dublin and The CCD impressed the voting Board members with the amenities and facilities offered, as well as the scientific stature of the local organising committee.

The Irish Section of the Combustion Institute will host the Symposium, having secured very strong support, both financial and motivational, from government agencies including Fáilte Ireland and Science Foundation Ireland – the latter through an Exceptional Conference Award.

Keynote PCO worked with the Irish committee to secure this important international conference. “We’re delighted that the Combustion Institute has recognised the quality of research in Ireland, as well as the benefits of Dublin as a conference destination. We look forward to a great meeting here in Ireland”, said Dr. Noel Mitchell, Managing Director of Keynote PCO.

Adrienne Clarke, Head of Conference Sales at The CCD added, “We are thrilled to be chosen as the venue for such a prestigious conference and look forward to welcoming everyone to The CCD in July 2018”.
