DUBLIN – 25 September 2020 – The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) has won the award for ‘Best Venue’ in the supplier category at the C&IT Awards 2020.
As The CCD celebrates its tenth year in operation alongside the tenth anniversary of the prestigious C&IT Awards, they were awarded the title at the online virtual event on Thursday evening, 24 September. Due to COVID-19 restrictions and in line with Government restrictions, this was the first time the C&IT Awards went digital. The award for ‘Best Venue’ recognises UK and international conference venues that have had a standout year for B2B events showing innovative ideas and sound financial results.
This is the third time the venue has won at the C&IT Awards, having taken home ‘Best Overseas Venue’ in 2015. The CCD beat off international competition, including previous winners ICC Belfast, QEII London and Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
Stephen Meehan, Chief Executive of The CCD, spoke about the achievement, “We are delighted to win this award in our tenth year in business and would like to thank the judges and C&IT. It has been a tough year for us all in the Events & MICE Industry, so this is very welcome news. We look forward to welcoming people back to The CCD when it is safe to do so.”
The CCD has hosted over 1,950 events since opening and has won 48 industry awards.
This year, the C&IT Awards were voted for by a panel of expert judges made up of Event Managers, CEOs and Directors within the MICE Industry, and were hosted by Calum Di Lieto, editor of C&IT Magazine.
