International Peace Concert and International Peace Conference set to mark 10th Anniversary of UN International Peace Day and 9/11 in New York.

DUBLIN - May 18, 2011 - The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) announced today that it will host Instruments of Peace events in September 2011. Two events will be held at The CCD to commemorate the 10th celebration of the UN International Peace Day, on 21st of September, and also to mark 10 years since 9/11 in New York.

The first event is “Peace is everybody’s business”, an International Peace Concert, which is scheduled to take place on 20th September at 8pm. The concert will open with an inspirational speech from Sean Gallagher of RTE’s Dragon’s Den and will include a host of International stars from across Europe including Karin Leitner from Vienna. In addition, this concert is expected to raise €100,000, through ticket sales, to help fund student entrepreneurs with business ideas to contribute to Peace in the World. The four winning business ideas will be pre-selected and each team will receive €20,000 on the night. During the event, the teams will also have the opportunity to present a 7-minute talent show and the audience will vote for the best team who will win an additional €20,000 to fund their idea.

The second event is an International Peace Conference, “Peace: The Ground We Share”, which will be held on 21st of September from 9am to 6pm. This conference will bring together a selection of speakers from across the globe to speak about Peace from a number of angles: History, Philosophy, Spirituality, Business, Technology, Science, Sports, Music, Human Rights and International Relations. The event will run as a combination of retreats and workshops. The contents of the conference, along with written submissions, will also be published as a book by Instruments of Peace following the event.
