The CCD wins ‘Best Conference or Hotel Venue’ at the Event Industry Awards 2013!

DUBLIN – 28 June 2013 – The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) took home the award for ‘Best Conference or Hotel Venue’ at the Event Industry Awards 2013, which took place at the Burlington Hotel last night. The awards recognise outstanding achievement in the Irish event industry. The win brings the total number of industry awards The CCD has won since opening to 24!

Nick Waight, CEO of The CCD comments ‘this is another great award win for The CCD, 2012 was a fantastic year for us and it is great to get recognition from our peers in the Irish Events Industry’.

The awards received 150 entries across 22 categories. A distinguished panel of judges drawn from across Ireland’s event industry, had the difficult task of choosing the winners from the range of high calibre candidates. This year for the first time, the panel also included some highly-respected international judges, ensuring a robust and thorough judging process.

It was a double win for The CCD, as CCD Technical’s Kris Rzepka also won a People and Craft Award for ‘AV Technician of the Year’, while CCD Event’s Emma O’Brien was one of six candidates shortlisted for the prestigious title of ‘Event Manager of the Year’. The People and Craft awards are judged on the basis of votes from clients and contacts, and it is a fantastic accolade in itself to be nominated and shortlisted for these highly-competitive awards.

In addition, many of The CCD’s clients and partners were nominated for awards across a variety of categories, including Conference Partners for ‘Best Event Video’ for the EuroScience Open Forum 2012. CCD Hospitality, managed by Fitzers Catering, were also shortlisted for ‘Best Event Caterer’ for their innovative menu for Skoda’s UK Retailer of the Year Awards, while Ashville Media won ‘Best Awards Ceremony’ for the Digital Media Awards which were held at The CCD in March 2013.
