The X Factor to visit The Convention Centre Dublin as part of its biggest ever audition tour

DUBLIN – 04 April 2014 – The X Factor’s first round of auditions are set to take place in The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) tomorrow as part of the main Open Audition Tour, which will be visiting nine cities across the UK and Ireland.

Following the news that Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell are to reunite as judges on this year’s series, the audition tour will visit Dublin for the first time since 2010. The Mobile Audition Tour already visited Cork and Belfast in March, with Dublin being the last chance to audition in Ireland. The Mobile Audition Tour will be visiting a further 34 locations in the UK, and is where James Arthur was discovered in 2012.

The X Factor creator Simon Cowell added: “The last time I was on the show we discovered One Direction, Cher Lloyd and Rebecca Ferguson. This year we’re visiting more towns and cities than ever across the UK to find the next pop star ready to take on the world. So if you’re thinking about auditioning, just do it!”

Speaking about her tips for auditioning Cheryl Cole added: “If you do something original or a good remix or something that makes people sit up and listen, that’s always a good start. So go and do some research, find some unique ways of singing songs we’re already aware of.”

Budding hopefuls are advised to turn up early as audition slots are on a first come, first served basis, however everyone who turns up will be guaranteed an audition. If an act impresses The X Factor team with their vocals, they will then be in with a chance of auditioning in front of Simon, Cheryl and the other X Factor judges, when the judges’ auditions take place in the summer. Auditions begin at 9am and there is no need to apply beforehand.

The X Factor returns to our screens later in the year. Fans of the show can follow all of the action from the auditions via @TheXFactor on Twitter or Facebook.com/TheXFactor.
