The Convention Centre Dublin Confirms First European Conference for 2010

DUBLIN – August 2, 2008 - Today, The Convention Centre, Dublin (CCD), is celebrating securing The European Union Geriatric Medicine Society’s conference, which will take place in the first month of opening in September 2010.

Over 750 delegates will attend this 3-day meeting at The CCD. Launched in 2001, the EUGMS represents 25 countries across Europe and aims to promote research and education, continue professional development, and represent the speciality to EU and national governments.

Catherine Newhall-Caiger, Director of International Sales, The Convention Centre, Dublin, said: “We are immensely pleased and very proud to be hosting the EUGMS in our opening month in 2010. With 22 flexible conference spaces, which can accommodate up to 8,000 delegates, The CCD also boasts a state-of-the-art 2,000-seat auditorium and fully serviced 4,500 sqm exhibition space, with the ability to simultaneously banquet for 3,000 people.

Careful consideration has been given to environmental impact - carbon-neutral concrete has been used in the venue’s construction and a district heating system has been installed.
