LONDON CONFEX 2010 – Stand # B146 – February 24, 2010 – Today, The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) announced that it has confirmed 29 international events already with six months to go before opening on September 1.

With over 236,000 delegate days secured to date at The CCD, Ireland’s first purpose-built conference venue will help bring €73m to the Irish economy. The CCD is the result of a unique Public Private Partnership with The Office of Public Works and The Spencer Dock Convention Centre Ltd. The venue will enable Ireland to compete on the world stage as a top business tourism destination.

“With just six months to go before opening our doors, we are very excited about our confirmed business to date and the increasing level of international corporate enquiries we are continuing to receive,” said Nick Waight, The Convention Centre Dublin. “Our international success so far can be also attributed to the continued support we receive from our strategic partners as well as the strong demand to host events and conduct business in Dublin.”

As one of Dublin’s newest landmarks, The CCD has secured 40 events to date including a number of high profile international meetings, such as The International Bar Association with over 4,000 delegates, The International Statistics Institute with 3000 delegates, The International Conference of Emergency Medicine with over 2000 delegates, The European Society for Biomaterials Conference with over 1,200 delegates and European Union Geriatric Medicine Society Conference with 750 delegates among others.

Developed by Treasury Holdings, The Convention Centre Dublin is situated at Spencer Dock on the banks of the River Liffey. Ireland’s first purpose-built international convention and event venue is positioned to become the leading premium mid-sized convention centre in Europe. Recognised as the first carbon neutral international convention centre, the venue is configured to accommodate conferences from 8 to 8,000 participants in 22 purpose-built meeting rooms. It includes a 2,000-seat auditorium, 4,500 square metres of exhibition space and banqueting facilities for up to 3,000 guests.
