Driving Economic Impact
The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) was developed to meet a clearly defined need - to provide a world-class conference venue in the heart of Ireland’s capital city to attract international delegates and help drive economic impact for the local and national economy.
As Ireland’s first purpose-built convention centre, The Convention Centre Dublin enables Ireland to tap into the lucrative business tourism market.
To date, we have welcomed over 200,000+ delegates and hosted over 450 events, including the European Union Geriatric Medicine Society Conference with 750 delegates; the World Statistics Congress 2011 with 2,500 delegates and the Google Emea Sales Conference with 2,500 delegates. Upcoming Events include The International Bar Association with 3,000 delegates; TM Forum's Management World Conference with 3,000 delegates and EuroScience 2012 with 6,000 delegates.
These bookings will result in a significan boost to the Irish economy as visiting international delegates or business tourists spend money in our cities and towns on hotels, taxis, dining out, entertainment, shopping, cultural experiences and tourist attractions. While most of the spend will typically go to local businesses in and around Dublin city, research also indicates that these business tourists often extend their stay to enjoy the many sights and attractions throughout Ireland.
